Official Karakia at He Ahi Eco-Business Park
On January 30th, a karakia in an empty 40 acres marked the commencement of earthworks for Stage 1 of the He Ahi Eco-Business Park in Taupō. This milestone event was attended by key stakeholders and partners, underscoring the collaborative effort behind this eco-friendly initiative.
He Ahi is designed to facilitate the use of geothermal energy for small to moderate scale heat users. By utilising existing assets owned and operated by Contact Energy, the capital cost of new connections is minimised. Tenants can access the world-class Tauhara Geothermal Field, benefiting from low carbon, renewable energy at competitive prices. This project provides our Taupō team with the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy, with a strong focus on quadruple bottom line strategies.

The karakia was performed by Tyson Taikato, setting a respectful tone for the commencement of the earthworks.
Attendees included Greg Stebbing, Chairman of the He Ahi Board, and Ngahere Wall, Chairman of Te Pae O Waimihia. Representing their project partner, Contact Energy, was Craig Stephenson. Key members of the project team, such as Blandina Diamond from Te Wikitoria Diamond Ltd and Marcus Hill from Orchestra Property, were also present.
