Bright pink streamers and balloons criss-crossed the ceiling, platters of delicious food competed for space on the lunchroom table and fine pink glitter adorned every surface (sorry cleaning crew).
What was all this in aid of? We went “Pink for a day” in support of breast cancer awareness.
What started out as a feel-good company bake sale, quickly turned into an impromptu fashion show and a very public sashay through the local Westfield Manukau mall.
McKenzie & Co. managing director Clayton McKenzie, Civil Engineer Tulele Masoe and Civil Design Engineer Sarah Kelly accepted the challenges with gusto and off they strutted. They even managed to attract the attention of Radio New Zealand’s Checkpoint, who were interviewing on a totally different, much more serious topic – Armed offenders squad patrols.
As the sugar rush hit, the atmosphere in the office swiftly crept towards hysterical. Calls for a scantily clad guest appearance by a certain Senior Civil Engineer raised more money to quash it, than see it through – phew!
With IOU’s still to count and online donations coming in, we’re on track to smash out $500 target.
